Ideas and Suggestions from the participants
1. Get the library's readers involved in the selection process for the collection beyond a "suggested purchase" program. Consider having local readers promote the books they want for the collection. Great marketing tool. Maybe a notice on the book "suggested by..."--Leavenworth (KS) Public Library
2. A patron recommendations shelf in the new book section
3. The Awesome Box--patrons put a book they felt was "awesome" on a special display stand--Manhattan (KS) Public Library
4. Website of note: Fantastic Fiction
5. For Library social media platforms a successful post is: photos of library events, kids doing funny/cute things, live posting/tweeting of a library event, behind the scenes photos of library staff/services/programs.
6. Consider it a success if people are liking/commenting/responding to past library events. Call it the "wish you were here" effect.
7. Be aware that unless Facebook posts to a library's Facebook page are paid for or "promoted", reach among the page's Friends may be limited.
8. Podcasts to be aware of: Books on the Nightstand and Dear Book Nerd.
